St.James's Square To a little architectural wonder this week in the shape of St.James's Square. Once residential the square is now home to many a famous institution and one very public murder. In 1994, from the former Libyan People's Bureau, Yvonne Fletcher was shot during a raid on the building. Due to diplomatic immunity the police couldn't charge anyone with the shooting.
On a brighter note are the lovely gardens in the middle – a little oasis of calm in summer ... and don't forget to check out No. 14 - The London Library with over 1 million books it was formed on subscription when the writing Thomas Carlyle got fed up trying to get books out of the British Library.
Lots of imposing architecture and if it's a nice day quite a few lunching office workers to snap ... it's a lovely little square – one of those kind of places that London is great at!
